PIANO CLASS INFORMATION

Group Piano classes are small and are grouped according to age and ability. Each student has the use of an electronic piano during class. Piano classes in group are 60 minutes long and meet once a week that will start on time wether everyone is present or not. This piano classes approach prove that children enjoy learning in a fun, relaxed piano class atmosphere. Friendships develop, and the joy of sharing music is experienced. Students progress more rapidly in a stress-free piano class environment.  This is offered for 7 year old children and up.

Private  Piano  lessons will be 30, 45 or 60 minutes long. Parents are welcome to visit class at any time to check on their child. However, parents who stay for the entire class disrupt the dynamic between the teacher and students. Therefore, parents are invited to wait outside or in waiting area.

Buddy Lessons are 40 or 45 minute lesson in which they receive one on one instruction for 20 or 25 minutes and have a partner lesson for the remaining time. This gives the opportunity enjoy making music with others and learn through games.

Mini musicians Program is a pre-school group class for children Between 4 and 5 years that will provide a joyful musical experience and will prepare them for piano or another instrument when they are older

SAFETY

Students are not allowed to be left unattended by a parent before or after class. Babysitting unattended children takes class time away from other students. Students and parents need to wait outside until it is time for class. Rocio Correa is not responsible for children until they enter the studio at the appropriate class time. Rocio Correa must be notified by the child’s parent if a child will be going home with anyone other than a parent. No food, gum or drinks is allowed in the class.

VIDEO CONSENT

From time to time, I will take videos of students during lessons for instructional/analytical purposes or to create performance opportunities. Videos provide a great way for students to see their own playing clearly, and to share their progress at the piano with family and friends, as well as to help other teachers improve their teaching methods. This will be done under parental consent

PHOTO CONSENT

I like to be able to celebrate students' achievements, and one of the ways I do this is by taking photos occasionally at private lessons, group lessons and student performances. These photos will be shared on the studio website and newsletter only under parental consent.

MUSIC

Students are taught a stimulating, thorough course written specifically for group piano classes. The material for each level consists of original music, recital solos, practice sheets, rhythm exercises, theory fun sheets, music history, and favourite classics. The material cost is included in the annual registration fee.

The student must bring his/her music book to class each week so they can make the necessary annotations for their weekly practice.

PRACTICING

All students are REQUIRED to play the week’s music assignment in a piano or in a touch sensitive keyboard at least twice a day or for 12 to 20 minutes for at least 5 days a week until the next lesson. Practicing only takes a few minutes each day.  Parents must accept their responsibility in seeing to it that the student does the required practicing.

MISSED LESSONS

If a student will be missing their lesson for any reason they should inform me by text or email with as much notice as possible so that we can set up a video or online lesson. There is also a bonus lesson at the end of each semester. This is an extra lesson that makes for missed lessons due to sickness of the student. If student have not missed any lessons he can enjoy this as a free extra lesson.  Otherwise there are no make up lessons.

There are four flexible weeks in the school calendar. This are weeks to schedule missed lessons canceled by the teacher. If for any reason the teacher has to cancel more than four lessons in the year, she will offer a make-up lesson at a different time, or if a suitable time can not be arranged, we will refund the fee.

In the case of inclement weather, lessons will be done online.

ATTITUDE OF THE STUDENT

Our Piano classes are fun as well as educational. I expect my students to have a positive attitude. Students with a negative attitude are not welcomed.

WITHDRAWAL PROCESS

The parent or student is required to give one-month (30 days) written notice in the event that the parent or student decides to withdraw from their lessons. No longer attending piano class is not notification of termination.
